Scared of Shiba Search? Just say so.

​Yeah, I know, we are all scared of certain things in life: snakes, onion bagels, reptiloids - you name it, it’s probably a thing. But I know one fear I conquered recently and I’m ready to tell my story.

​Most people scroll through Twitter in their free time to catch up on the latest gossip and occasionally bash Elon Musk for birthing his <paste number> baby. But one tweet kept sticking out to me day after day like a sore thumb. That tweet read something along the lines of “Join the Shiba Search Discord, Earn Free Shib and Be Crowned Prince/Princess of the Crypto Realm.”

Well, unless you've been living under a rock all this time, you probably heard some bits and pieces about Shiba Search; most likely the part about them burning Shib, or that article on the internet that called them “a calculator”. Until I saw this tweet, I had no idea you could earn some free tokens from them, and I sure as heck didn’t know what “a Discord” was. Blame that on me being an 80’s baby, the factor that renders me incapable of adapting to new technology very well. 

So, I kept seeing this tweet day after day, until I finally gave in and responded. Next thing I know, this guy - Professor Void -  sends me an invite link to Discord as well as an invite to his live stream on Twitch. 

Now mind you, I am on my lunch break at work while I am trying to get acquainted with this new tech - a big mistake, as I later came to realize. Despite Professor Void being extremely kind in walking me through setting up Discord, I was still largely overwhelmed by the sheer scope of the app. I was completely terrified because I couldn’t figure out what was going on, what a server was or what a channel was. Long story short, I thanked the Professor for his time and told him I was deleting the app and walking away. 

After a few days during which Shiba Search constantly haunted me in my dreams, I thought it over and decided (between my pack of Marlboro Menthols and Michelob Ultra) that I was ready to conquer my fears. I downloaded the app again, and that was one of the best decisions that I have made lately. Everyone that I have encountered through their Discord, from Mr. Spectre Gazushi, Dr. Oz’d, Professor Void to Wicked X Mage have been nothing but patient, friendly, and encouraging. All of these guys walked me through the setup process, and told me how to earn some shiny Shibbies through the server. Soon, I became a member of the Shiba Search community. 

Ever since then, I have earned quite a bit of Shib, on top of earning the “Viewer” role for joining Professor Void and Wicked X Mage’s streams on Twitch. I genuinely hope that others who are timid when it comes to new technology will conquer their fears like I did and become one of the #SHIBANAUT gang. 

Word to the wise though, DO NOT show up looking for a free hand out. This project is for motivated individuals who want to be a part of the community and see it thrive. If you are lazy, don’t waste your time or anyone’s time on the server. If you want the viewer role, you have to spend time streaming live videos because these guys can truly see how many hours you stream, but at the end of the day you are graciously rewarded for your effort.
